Romance is important in your marriage, for sure. But sometimes I think good ol’ fashion fun is even better. Having fun together creates a romantic connection anyway. So if your romantic Friday night dinner date is starting to feel a little less romantic and a little more redundant, you might want to try these date night ideas to keep dating your husband fun. The romance will follow.
My husband, Chad, and I have been married for 13 years. A while back I was scrolling through my Groupon account for deals for our next date night. You should check that out, by the way. You can probably find a Groupon for at least a few of the things on this list. Maybe all, depending on where you live. Anyway, we were so tired of our usual dinner dates. “Romantic” dates get kind of boring, in my opinion. Plus, the more you have the less special they become.
I decided it was time to take this seriously and have some real fun. We plan on checking off all of this list in the near future. A lot of this list comes from things that we just stop doing as we get older for some crazy reason. Who says adults can’t do these fun things!? No wonder we’re all grumpy and exhausted. Save this post and dive into the fun! You can pin this post with the image below.
Keep Your Marriage Fun and Exciting With These Date Night Ideas

Take it Way Back
Who knows how to have fun better than kids? Some of the most fun things we can do as adults are the things we enjoyed when fun was all we ever thought about. The first thing Chad and I checked off of this list is the first one, roller skating. Aside from almost being taken out by several more advanced skaters (all children of course – ha!). But really, that was part of the fun. We laughed the whole time. Chad did get a little angry at one Olympic (compared to us) speed-skating 12 year old who kept cutting him off. But that was mostly because we were barely holding our own as it was. It was pretty hilarious. We haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. Hopefully these kid-inspired date ideas will make you just as happy!
1. Roller Skating
2. Laser Tag or Paint Ball
3. Go-Kart Racing
4. Bowling
5. Trampoline Park
6. Arcade
Be Adventurous
Maybe you’ve never been the thrill-seeking type, but maybe it’s time to embark on new adventures with your spouse to add a little excitement to your marriage. All of these things can be done with a guide who will make sure you’re as safe as possible. These things can add some much needed energy to your relationship. I say don’t think about it, just do it. I bet you won’t regret it!
7. Ziplining
8. White Water Rafting
9. Skydiving
10. Spelunking
Try a Little Teamwork
If you and your spouse work well together and enjoy a little teamwork you should have a blast with these date nights. Conversely, if you all could use a little improvement in the teamwork area, maybe these ideas would be helpful. As long as you go with the intention of improving and don’t beat each other up (figuratively, of course – ha).
11. Escape Room
12. Trivia Night
13. Scavenger Hunt (more info here)
Play Outside
Outdoor date ideas are typically the cheapest and, in my opinion, they’re the most fun. These ideas are pretty much a low-key alternative to the adventurous category. But I recommend doing it all! Being outside is good for the soul and enjoying these things together will be even better.
14. Float a river
15. Rent Bicycles
16. Hike to a Swimming Hole
17. Kayaking or Canoeing
Let Loose
Laugh a little, be entertained, take it all in! Release those inhibitions and just enjoy each other’s company! These date night ideas will have you laughing, cheering, and singing. Enjoy the moment!
18. Karaoke
19. Go Dancing
20. Concert or Local Live Music
21. Sporting Events
22. Comedy Show
It’s hard to make time for dates and sometimes even harder to get out of our routine and try something new. I hope this list inspires you to think outside of the box on your next date night or day date and get out of your comfort zone a little. Or a lot!
